Harcum Fitness and Aquatic Center

Harcum Fitness and Aquatic Center

Frequently Asked Questions about The Harcum Fitness
and Aquatic Center Wesley Ridge Retirement Community

Is it connected to the current Wesley Ridge building?

  • Though desirable, connecting the fitness center to existing buildings would require extensive utility relocation and major disruption to existing operations, which is cost prohibitive.  We will however, be offering shuttle service (golf cart during good weather and bus during bad weather) during pre-determined times but residents can also request shuttle service in advance.

How do residents get from Parkside/Barnes Center/Bishop Place/English Garden to the fitness center?

  • Convenient all-weather access is a priority. There is a separate driveway entrance into the building with a covered drop off / pick up entrance.  There is also parking (to include handicap parking) for that building.  A no-step sidewalk off of Wesley Way allows easy access from the current buildings to a side entrance.  Shuttle service is available prior to and after scheduled classes and by request.

How much parking is there and how do we get to it?

  • The city of Reynoldsburg requires at least 42 spaces. Access will be from Wesley Way, almost directly across from English Garden; we’re not planning to provide vehicle access from Taylor Park Drive. There are multiple doors in different areas of the building for easy pedestrian access. The main walkway (with no steps and a gentle grade) is situated between the Kimes Chapel and the Harcum Fitness & Aquatic Center.

What is the pool like?

  • The natatorium has a modified flat roof with 12’H windows all around. Pool depth ranges from 3’3” to 4’6” with an average depth of 4’. There are lanes for swimming and a hydraulic lift.

Is the pool just like the one at Wesley Glen WELLness Center?

  • Entry: The aquatic center differs from Wesley Glen’s pool by having zero-entry, a ramp and no steps. It has a pool lift-chair like Wesley Glen’s that turns and lowers someone into the pool area.
  • Size and depth: The pool is 50’L with four - 4’W lanes and has a depth of 4 feet.  This depth works for various aquatic classes while still allowing for lap swimmers to have adequate depth for turns.
  • Temperatures: Water temperature within the pool will be approximately 87 degrees and the outside pool area will be in the low 90’s.
  • Utilization:  Use of the pool may be limited due to scheduled classes and activities. It is suggested that you check the class schedule that will be at the front desk or call the front desk.   There will be set times for water classes but depending on class size, there still may be room for lap swimming.

What are the hours of operation?

  • Fitness Center hours:
  • For residents and employees it will be available 24 hours a day

Are there age restrictions?

  • Individuals must be 18 years or older to begin a membership.  Children under 18, can be included on a family membership; however, they must be accompanied by an adult in the pool if they are less than 4’6” tall.  Anyone 13 to 18 must be accompanied by an adult when using the fitness Center; children 12 and under are not permitted in the Fitness Center for the safety of the children and out of consideration to and for the safety of our residents.
